Accra: The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Caucus has nominated Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, for the position of First Deputy Speaker of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic. This nomination was made during a meeting of the NDC Parliamentary Caucus on Monday, January 6, 2025.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Speaker of Parliament is assisted by two Deputy Speakers, specifically the First and Second Deputy Speakers. These positions are filled through elections at the start of every Parliament, with the stipulation that both Deputy Speakers should not come from the same political party.
