Accra: Mr. Razak Kojo Opoku, former Public Relations Manager of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has firmly denied allegations that KGL requested the NLA to postpone its request to 2026, as reported by Fourth Estate.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Opoku challenged the publication by Fourth Estate, questioning the integrity of its claims and demanding evidence of his alleged consultancy role with KGL. In a statement shared with the agency, he emphasized that the NLA’s correspondence was dated October 7, 2025, and received by KGL on October 13, 2025. He reiterated that Mr. Alex Dadey never made such a request to defer the NLA’s plans.
Mr. Opoku criticized Fourth Estate’s investigative approach, urging them to acknowledge their error regarding the NLA-KGL deal and desist from fabricating facts. He suggested that personal attacks emerged as a tactic when arguments were failing, noting that Fourth Estate is neither a court nor a state investigative body, and thus, no one is compelled to provide them with sensitive information.
He urged media outlets to verify information with the NLA to avoid inaccuracies. He also refuted claims about the NLA’s financial dealings with KGL, emphasizing that misleading information had been spread concerning a GHS 3 billion business transaction and a GHS 37 million profit payment to the state.
Mr. Opoku expressed his intent to continue correcting misinformation with factual data, asserting that KGL is a responsible corporate entity. He emphasized the importance of factual and intellectual debate, rejecting what he described as “jandam journalism” and reaffirming his commitment to defending indigenous businesses like KGL.
