Bolgatanga: Business students from Sandema and Azantilow Senior High Schools in the Builsa North District recently embarked on an educational tour to Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU). This visit was organized as part of their annual Business Week Celebration, with the primary aim of introducing the students to the practical, industry-aligned programmes available at BTU’s School of Business and Management Studies (SoBMS).

According to Ghana News Agency, the tour involved 200 students, most of whom are in their final year of high school. Mr. Anadem Amos Azantilow, a Financial and Corporate Accounting Teacher at Azantilow SHS, highlighted the purpose of the visit as a means to inform students about the educational opportunities at BTU. He noted that previous collaborations between the schools and the university had proven beneficial, with many former students securing employment after completing their studies at BTU.

Mr. Azantilow commended BTU for its career-focused academic approach, which aligns with the demands of the job market in both the public and private sectors. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Professor Emmanuel Caesar Ayamba, Dean of the School of Business and Management Studies, and a team of faculty members. They toured key facilities, including lecture halls, laboratories, the administration block, and the library complex.

During the tour, a forum was held where department heads presented detailed overviews of their programmes. Dr. Chilala Osman, Head of the Department of Secretaryship and Management Studies, discussed options such as Bachelor of Technology in Secretaryship and Management Studies, HND in Secretaryship, and Diploma in Business Administration. Dr. Fuseine Mahama, Head of the Accounting and Finance Department, highlighted programmes like Bachelor of Technology in Accounting with Computing and HND in Accountancy and Banking and Finance.

For those interested in Procurement and Logistics Management, Dr. Oswald Atiga presented options such as MSc, BSc, BTech, and Diploma programmes in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, Vice Chancellor of BTU, encouraged students to consider BTU for their tertiary education, emphasizing the university’s qualified staff, modern infrastructure, and focus on entrepreneurship. He also urged parents to recognize the benefits of local institutions like BTU, including financial savings and student safety.

Professor Alnaa stated, ‘BTU is equipped to provide world-class training across multiple disciplines that not only meet the job market requirements but also position graduates to create their own businesses.’
