Teen girl allegedly raped at Katjinakatji village

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a fellow pupil and his brother at Katjinakatji village in the Kavango West Region on Friday.

The Namibian Police Force's (NamPol) daily incident report on Thursday indicated that the suspects are aged 16 and 17.

The incident reportedly occurred around 22h00 on Friday, when the suspects allegedly had unprotected sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent.

The suspects, both from the Mururani community, have been apprehended and charged, but were released on warning and placed in the custody of their guardians.

They are expected to appear before the Rundu Magistrate’s Court.

In another incident, a 32-year-old woman was on Wednesday allegedly raped by a 29-year-old man while walking from the cuca shops where she had gone to charge her cellphone at Oniiwe village in the Oshikoto Region’s Onayena constituency.

According to the report, the incident occurred around 00h30, when the woman was approached by the suspect who followed her and demanded that she go home with him. When she refused, the suspect grabbed her neck, pushed her down and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

The suspect fled but was arrested later that day and is expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court.

Meanwhile, a 62-year-old Namibian male pensioner was arrested on Friday after he allegedly shot and killed a duiker and monitor lizard without permission at Farm 39 at the Mangetti cattle range in Kavango West.

The protected game meat was valued at a total of N.dollars 23 400. Both the duiker and monitor lizard carcasses were recovered and seized.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
