Tunisia welcomes UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Tunis: Tunisia welcomed on Monday the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2728 (2024), adopted on March 25, 2024 demanding an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties, leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire, and an immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, as well as ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs. Tunisia also called for the terms of this resolution to be upheld, for its "immediate and unconditional" implementation to be ensured, and for all measures to be taken to accelerate the pace and scope of "unhindered" entry of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, reads a Foreign Ministry press release published late on Monday. Tunisia further urged the international community to put an end to the "unjust siege" imposed on the Palestinian people. "It is the international community's legal and moral responsibility to put an end to the genocidal war against the Palestinian people so that they can recover all their rights and establish their independent State in Palestine with Al-Quds as its capital," the press release reads.
