According to Ghana News Agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the theme aims to explore the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on journalism, media ethics, and freedom of expression. In an interview, Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, Chairman of the GJA Volta/Oti, confirmed that arrangements have been finalized for the regional observance. The event will bring together journalists, media stakeholders, policymakers, and the public.

Mr. Agbaxode announced that Mr. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, will be the Special Guest of Honour. Mr. Gunu will speak on the role of a free press in promoting good governance, accountability, and sustainable development. A dialogue and forum will follow at the GJA Regional Press Centre, where speakers will discuss how AI technologies are reshaping newsrooms and their impact on journalism.

The celebration will conclude with a Get-Together and networking session to promote camaraderie among media practitioners. Mr. Agbaxode emphasized that World Press Freedom Day is an opportunity to reflect on media freedom in the country and to reinforce values of truth and responsibility as AI transforms the industry. He encouraged media practitioners to participate in the activities, highlighting the need to defend press freedom through meaningful actions.

The GJA urged media houses to use their platforms to amplify public interest in the celebration and continue advocating for journalist safety, fair digital space regulation, and media development. World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on May 3, was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 to raise awareness of the importance of press freedom and remind governments of their duty to respect the right to freedom of expression.
