Prampram: The Annor We Royal Family of Prampram and some concerned youth have appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Ghana Police Service to prevent potential violence over an alleged stool-father installation in the area.

According to Ghana News Agency, Numo Samuel K. Abbey, the Principal Elder of Annor We, made the call following a protest by the elders and youth against the attempted installation in Prampram, located in the Greater Accra Region. During a press conference on Thursday, the group, dressed in red armbands and attire, firmly opposed the move, asserting that the community already has a legitimate and long-serving stool father, Numo Osabu Abbey IV.

Naa Larbiedede Abbey, the group's spokesperson, characterized the situation as 'provocative and dangerous', emphasizing that any effort to install a new stool-father would be resisted. She highlighted that Numo Osabu Abbey IV has served in the position for decades without any dispute. She also expressed concern over Nene Tetteh Wakah's tenure as chief, which she claims has been marked by violence and lawlessness, urging the security agencies to take action.

She appealed to IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno to ensure his tenure effectively addresses such corrupt and hazardous conduct, which she noted has cast a dark shadow over Prampram and instilled fear among the residents.

In response, Nene Tetteh Wakah III, the Paramount Chief of Prampram, refuted claims of installing a new stool-father. He clarified that the individual in question was being introduced as an apprentice to assist the current gazetted stool-father, who is advanced in age and reportedly unable to fulfill his duties effectively. 'The person being introduced is not replacing anyone. He is to assist the current stool father due to his limited mobility,' Nene Wakah stated.

Security measures have been intensified in the town as Prampram prepares to celebrate its annual Kplejoo Festival amidst the ongoing chieftaincy dispute.
