Nabdam: A three-day Youth Bible Camp was held for young Catholic boys and girls from various deaneries within the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese to strengthen their faith.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event brought together more than 200 young people at the Kongo Spiritual Renewal Centre in the Nabdam District. This was the second camp of its kind, organized under the theme: ‘Word of God, Source of Hope for the Catholic Youth.’ The camp provided an opportunity for participants to engage in prayer, study sacred scripture, and cultivate Christ-centered lives.
Reverend Father Emmanuel Akansagse, Coordinator of the Diocesan Biblical Apostolate, welcomed the youth and emphasized the importance of openness to learning and living by the values taught during the camp. He stressed the camp’s mission to guide the young Catholics in their spiritual journey and foster a deeper understanding of their faith.
The program featured several activities led by adult animators, including Mrs. Judith Amaltinga, Mr. Joel Ayeasiyinga, and Mr. Michael Anaridege Aluka. They guided the participants in singing Bible songs composed from selected scriptural texts, as well as praising and praying to God. The participants also received teachings on Catholic doctrine, focusing on the significance of images in the Church and the distinction between idols and religious statues.
Additionally, the camp included an inter-deanery Bible quiz competition and group work, where representatives from each parish participated. Father Akansagse led the youth in a procession through the Holy Door, culminating in a Holy Mass that featured the enthronement of the Word of God (Bible) and other symbolic representations.
The camp concluded with the election of Mr. Jawam Oscar as the youth leader, supported by other participants chosen to assist him. Madam Judith Amaltinga, Catechist Martin Amaltinga, and other adult animators facilitated activities that included composing Bible songs from scriptures, enriching the spiritual experience for all attendees.
