Four detainees in the so-called "plot against State security" case ended the hunger strike they have been on for almost two weeks. They are Khayam Turki, Abdelhamid Jelassi, Issam Chebbi and Jaouhar Ben M'barek, announced member of the defence team Samir Dilou. Contacted by TAP on Tuesday, Dilou said that defence team members had visited the striking prisoners at the Mornaguia civil prison on Monday to persuade them to end their hunger strike, pointing to a worsening in their state of health. Six people detained in this case announced on February 12 that they had gone on hunger strike. They are Secretary General of the Republican Party Issam Chebbi, resigning leader of the Ennahdha Movement Abdelhamid Jelassi, leader of the National Salvation Front Jaouhar Ben M'barek, Goordinator of the Tunisia First party Ridha Belhadj, former Secretary General of the Democratic Movement Party Ghazi Chaouachi and businessman and former leader of the Democratic Coalition for Labour and Freedoms Party Khayam Turki. These detainees have been on hunger strike to demand their release and put an end to what they describe as "security and judicial proceedings" against politicians and civil society activists.
