Cooperation between Tunisia and NATO under review

Tunis: Cooperation between Tunisia and NATO and ways to scale it up were the focus of a meeting on Monday between National Defence Minister Imed Memmich and Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Robert Peter Bauer. The minister underlined during the meeting the development of cooperation with NATO, which has contributed to building the defence capabilities of the Tunisian armed forces, notably following Tunisia's acquisition of the status of major non-NATO ally in 2015, according to a press release. He also affirmed his department's willingness to implement partnership mechanisms with NATO, to activate cooperation in the fields of training and to share experiences in a spirit of mutual respect and trust, to the mutual advantage of both sides. Admiral Rob Bauer commended the level of cooperation between Tunisia and NATO, citing in particular the building up of the Tunisian army's capabilities in all military fields.
