Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo Assumes Office as New CEO of KATH

Kumasi: Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, has officially assumed office as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). His unveiling took place during a staff durbar on Monday, following the exit of Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, who had served as CEO since 2022.

According to Ghana News Agency, the departure of Prof. Addai-Mensah was confirmed on Friday, April 2nd, after a cordial meeting with Mr Kwabena Akandoh, the Minister for Health. The Minister expressed gratitude for his dedicated service and extended his best wishes for his future endeavours.

Dr Baidoo, who also served as the Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has extensive experience in orthopaedic and trauma care. He served at the Department of Surgery at KATH, where he was known for his commitment to patient care and clinical excellence.

In his address to staff, Dr Baidoo expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the hospital's vision. He acknowledged the high standards set by his predecessor and called on all members of staff to contribute meaningfully toward building on the progress made.

Dr Baidoo stated, 'This is a collective mission. Each of us has a critical role to play in ensuring the continued growth and excellence of this institution. I look forward to working together with all of you.'

Dr Baidoo also pledged to lead with inclusivity and a strong focus on patient-centered care. He pledged his willingness to seek advice from his predecessor when needed, demonstrating a commitment to continuity and thoughtful leadership.
