According to Ghana News Agency:BIDS VC praised Dr Amesiya during his send-off and honour ceremony organised by the Upper West Regional Hospital to celebrate his impactful leadership and service at the facility. In about two decades of service in the region, Dr Amesiya had served in various roles including medical superintendent, orthopedic surgeon, physician, and Acting District Director of Health Services before assuming the role as a Medical Director of the Regional Hospital in 2019. Dr Amesiya served as the Medical Director from 30th October 2019 to 14th April 2025.

Prof. Derbile remarked, 'We celebrate not simply because he played these roles, but how he handled them, and the impact he made on systems and lives,' emphasizing that Dr Robert's name had now become a strong brand. Many groups, associations, and institutions in the region, including staff of the Regional Hospital, some patients, GCB Bank, Ghana Medical Association, and others, presented gifts and citations to honour Dr Amesiya.

Prof. Derbile expressed hope that the ceremony would inspire the next Medical Director, management, and staff of the hospital to achieve more and further transform the facility to honour Dr Amesiya's legacy.

Dr Amesiya, the celebrant, commended the hospital management and staff, political leadership, and traditional leadership in the region for their cooperation throughout his service. He recounted the initial challenges faced, including starting operations with state-of-the-art equipment but without seed capital, necessitating innovative leadership to establish the facility.

Mr Francis Luguniah, the Administrator of the Hospital, highlighted some of Dr Amesiya's achievements, including the introduction of services such as dialysis, C.T. scan, ENT, endoscopy, audiology, radiology, oncology, and pathology. He noted that the hospital had grown from four doctors and 214 staff in 2019 to 40 doctors and 828 staff at the time of Dr Amesiya's departure.

Mr Luguniah also mentioned that Dr Amesiya led the redesigning of the hospital in 2023 to address electricity consumption, reducing it by 62 per cent.
