International Labour Conference in Geneva: Tabboubi calls for social justice

Addressing the 111th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Secretary General Noureddine Tabboubi called for the establishment of social justice based on a comprehensive social and economic approach. Tabboubi underlined the important role played by the International Labour Organisation in promoting the values of democracy, freedom, justice and fight against injustice. Tabboubi also urged serious consideration of the issue of migration given the attempts by some countries to restrict freedom of movement. Tabboubi also called on international forces to increase their support for the Palestinian people in order to put an end to the Zionist occupation and to help them recover their legitimate rights. The trade unions are waging a battle on the national scene to achieve social justice and lay the foundations for decent work, and to combat poverty and unemployment, Tabboubi added.
