Taourirt: The judicial police in the northeastern city of Taourirt have arrested an individual steeped in the extremist ideology of the terrorist organization Daesh. The suspect, who works as a teacher in Sidi Chafi village in the province of Taourirt, was apprehended as part of a significant counter-terrorism operation.

According to Ghana News Agency, the operation was conducted based on intelligence provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). This arrest highlights Morocco's ongoing efforts to counter terrorist threats and prevent extremist activities that could undermine the country's security and stability. A press release from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) emphasized the importance of such operations in thwarting potential threats.

During a search of the suspect's home, police seized various chemical materials suspected to be intended for the manufacture of homemade explosive devices. These included vials containing hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and zinc sulfate, all of which were submitted for forensic examination. Additionally, authorities confiscated edged weapons of various sizes, cell phones, and electronic devices.

Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that the suspect had been gathering information on materials and techniques for manufacturing explosives. It is believed that these activities were part of a plan to prepare a terrorist plot aimed at causing significant harm to individuals and disrupting public order.

The suspect is currently in custody at the BCIJ for further questioning, under the supervision of the terrorism prosecutor's office. Authorities are working to identify all potential terrorist targets and any links the suspect may have to possible accomplices.
