Wenchi: Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area in the Bono Region, has ordered small-scale miners to cease mining operations in the area. He emphasized that no mining company or individual has received a permit to operate in the Wenchi Municipality, declaring any mining activity in the area illegal and urging those involved to stop to avoid prosecution.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Paramount Chief issued this directive in a statement and mandated that miners fill excavated pits and remove all their machines and equipment. "All mining activities must cease, and the illegal miners and companies are required to remove their machines and equipment from the site by 1800 hours January 5, 2025," Osagyefo Tabrako III ordered.

He further instructed that any land damaged by mining activities should be restored to its original condition, warning that non-compliance with these instructions will lead to serious repercussions. Osagyefo Tabrako III also urged the people in the area to remain law-abiding to avoid getting into trouble.
