Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has appointed 15 new ambassadors, high commissioners, and a consul-general to represent Ghana at its foreign mission stations worldwide.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President, conveyed the appointments in a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The nominations were made following the President's consultations with the Council of State.
The appointed officials include Mr. Benjamin A. Quashie as High Commissioner-Designate to South Africa, Mr. Kojo Bonsu as Ambassador-Designate to China, and Madam Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe as Ambassador-Designate to the Kingdom of Spain. Other appointees are Mr. Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali for the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) and Captain George Kofi Nfojoh for Togo.
Additional nominees are Madam Grace El Mahmoud Marabe, designated as Consul-General to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Professor Ohene Adjei for Germany, and Mr. Abdul Nasiru-Deen for Turkey. Further appointments include Madam Theresah Adjei-Mensah to the Czech Republic and Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso to India.
The remaining appointees are Dr. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh for Canada, Dr. Margaret Miewien Chebere for Denmark, Mr. Labik Joseph Yaani for Equatorial Guinea, Nii Amasah Namoale for Brazil, and Dr. Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo for Senegal.
The letter instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to undertake all necessary steps to ensure the completion of the appointment processes for the nominees.
