Truck driver arrested for Mandrax possession at Ariamsvlei

KEETMANSHOOP: A 51-year-old man is expected to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday after he was allegedly arrested with drugs worth over N.dollars 700 000 in his possession. The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Deputy Commissioner Nikodemus Mbango, in a crime report said the suspect was arrested on Sunday around 00h30 at the Ariamsvlei border post. 'It is alleged that the suspect entered Namibia from South Africa with a truck and upon a search he was found with six transparent plastic bags of suspected Mandrax tablets hidden in the truck he was driving,' said Mbango. The suspect was allegedly found in possession of 6 186 full Mandrax tablets and 49 half Mandrax tablets worth a total N.dollars 745 260.
