Tunisian surgeons launch “Volunteer Doctors for Gaza” initiative after Zionist attack

A group of Tunisian surgeons representing different specialities have launched the "Volunteer Doctors for Gaza" initiative to support Palestinian medical efforts following the Zionist attack on the Gaza Strip. According to the initiative's media coordinator, Zied Mezghani, they have sent a letter to the Presidency of the Republic calling for the simplification of travel procedures. Mezghani told TAP on Thursday evening that 12 Tunisian specialists, including plastic surgeons, orthopaedists and anaesthetists, have agreed to travel to Gaza to assist their Palestinian counterparts. This number is expected to increase significantly as a significant number of Tunisian doctors have expressed their willingness to participate in this movement of solidarity with the Palestinian people. He stressed that a letter was sent to the Presidency 10 days ago to facilitate travel procedures. He also noted that the Palestinian Embassy in Tunisia, as well as the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières, had been contacted to fa cilitate access to Gaza following a response from the Presidency. "These volunteer doctors have expressed their willingness to enter Gaza under any circumstances to assist Palestinian doctors in hospitals suffering from a lack of medicines and medical equipment," he said.
