WB reaffirms commitment to further foster cooperation relations with Tunisia

Tunis: Regional Director for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions (EFI) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at the World Bank (WB) Nadir Abdellatif Mohammed reaffirmed the Bank's commitment to further foster cooperation relations with Tunisia. He reaffirmed during a meeting on May 13 in Tunis, with Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Governor Fethi Zouhair Nouri, that his institution is willing to keep on supporting the reform and development process undertaken by Tunisia to achieve an inclusive and sustainable growth, according to a press release issued by the Issuing Bank. Nouri voiced satisfaction at the level of cooperation with the WB, pointing out that the BCT has embarked on an ambitious reform process based on close collaboration with various partners, including the WB Group. He commended in this regard, the efforts exerted by this institution, both financially and technically, to support a large number of major strategic projects within the BCT. These projects notably focus on build ing the resilience of the banking sector and boosting digital finance and financial inclusion. The Governor of the BCT further pointed out the importance of ongoing projects to combat climate change and to green the financial sector. Discussions also centred on support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), an essential lever for growth, and in particular on finalising the procedures for making operational the credit line from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) worth pound 115.6 million intended to finance Tunisian SMEs as part of the project to support economic recovery.
