MOFA to take legal action against those involved in abuses

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad on Friday affirmed that it will "without hesitation and regardless of any pressure" take administrative and legal action against any person found to be involved in abuses that have hindered the smooth running of the administration. The MOFA pointed out in a statement issued on Friday that these excesses, which contravene the provisions and laws in force, have had negative repercussions on diplomatic action. The ministry reserves the right to take all necessary measures to prosecute those who have "spread lies and misled public opinion with a view to sowing discord and destabilising diplomatic action," the statement said. The Department of Foreign Affairs did not reveal the identity of its affiliates who had been subjected to denigration and defamation. However, it stated that appointments within the ministry and diplomatic missions had been made on the basis of objective criteria which had been published. The ministry said that the annual m ovement for 2023 had involved 107 staffers and 54 presidents of diplomatic and consular missions, adding that 115 executives in the central administration had been promoted to higher grades. The MOFA pointed out that the annual reshuffle had helped upgrade all employees, across all categories, "unlike the movements carried out over the past decades, particularly over the last three years."
