Tunis: President Kaïs Saïed met Monday at the Carthage Palace with Imed Hazgui, chairman of the High Commission for Administrative and Financial Control (HCCCAF) and rapporteur of the steering committee for the audit of recruitment to the civil service between January 14, 2011 and July 25, 2021. According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the meeting provided an opportunity to examine the results of the audit of recruitment and integration into the civil service and to review the obstacles encountered by the committee in charge of this dossier in carrying out its mission. In this context, the Head of State took the opportunity to reiterate the importance of the public recruitment audit, which covers more than 432,000 recruits, "as there can be no real cleansing of the State with personnel whose recruitment process does not comply with the required legal conditions". President Saïed deplored the fact that many people are recruited and integrated into the civil service on the basis of favou ritism, clientelism and loyalty to a certain party, while many candidates who meet the required criteria are still unemployed. During the meeting, the Head of State also criticised the administration's lack of responsiveness to the requests and questions made by the Public Recruitment Audit Committee, pointing out that the response rate from the various administrations was only 60%, a figure below expectations. Faced with this "unacceptable" situation, which cannot continue for long, President Saïed urged all officials to assume their full responsibility. He stressed that any attempt to correct the revolutionary process, and thus the entire national liberation movement, would necessarily require a purge within the institutions of the state to remove "those who are bent on turning back the clock or obstructing the regular and normal functioning of the public services of the state".
