Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs meets US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs in charge of North Africa

Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mounir Ben Rjiba, met on Monday with visiting US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs in charge of North Africa, Joshua Harris. The meeting was an opportunity to review relations between the two countries and to explore ways of promoting bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two officials also discussed key international and regional issues, with a particular focus on the Palestinian cause. Ben Rjiba emphasised Tunisia's firm stance in condemning the brutal aggression of the occupation forces against the Palestinian people, resulting in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in contemporary history. He said Tunisia, led by the President of the Republic, is keen on the need for the people of conscience and international community to take action in order to put an end to this barbaric aggression and work towards achievi ng a lasting peace in the region, based on the right of the Palestinian people to recover their land and establish their State, with its capital the Holy city of al-Quds.
