Interior Minister in Algiers to attend 1st session of joint commission for development of border regions

Interior Minister Kamel Feki left for Algiers to attend on Monday works of the 1st session of the joint commission for the development and upgrading of border regions. The governors of the Tunisian and Algerian border regions and senior officials of the Interior Ministry will also be present at the meeting, according to an Interior Ministry press release. Upon his arrival in Algiers, the Minister was welcomed by his counterpart Brahim Merad, together with the Wali (Governor) of Algiers, the Director General of National Security, the Director General of Civil Protection and the Director General of Bilateral Relations, as well as the Tunisian Ambassador. Feki's visit is part of a drive to scale up bilateral cooperation and to honour the commitments made by the presidents of the two countries, the same source points out. Tunisia and Algeria had signed, at the close of the large joint committee held on October 26 , 2023, an agreement covering several fields such as border belt development, trade expansion an d investment boosting, particularly in the border regions.
