Ministry of Religious Affairs, UNICEF, join hands to improve pre-school education standards

The focal point of a meeting between Minister of Religious Affairs Brahim Chaieb and Director of the UNICEF office in Tunis Michel Le Pechoux was to streamline preschool education reference centres to all regions.

A centre was inaugurated in Medenine in December 2022. It was the result of a partnership project between the Department of Religious Affairs and the UN organisation for early childhood. The primary aim of this centre is to enhance the quality and coverage of pre-school services and to implement standards of good practice in pre-schools, including Koranic schools managed by the Department.

During the meeting, the Minister voiced pride in working with UNICEF, an organisation that "undertakes humane actions for the betterment of children across the globe." Le Pechoux emphasised the organisation's eagerness to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and actively contribute to the implementation of joint projects for the welfare of children in Koranic schools (Kouttebs).
